Experience the Magic of eh Canadian Christmas

The snowflakes pirouetted against the windowpane, a mesmerizing ballet of delicate beauty, as the winter wind whispered secrets in a gentle melody. I sat in my cozy Manitoba home, cradling a warm cup of homemade apple cider tea, infused with the sweetness of fermented apples from the tree out back, and felt a wave of nostalgia wash over me. The CBC News played softly in the background, its familiar cadence a comforting accompaniment to the howling blizzard outside, blanketing our country fields neighbourhood in a thick layer of snow. I could hear my friends and family chatting downstairs, their laughter and chatter intertwining with the aroma of freshly baked cookies, wafting up to tease my senses, as they watched YouTube videos and cooked up a storm, the scent of simmering mushroom gravy and fresh-baked bannock mingling with the air.

As I prepared for my daily fitness routine, my mind began to wander to the joys of winter in Canada. The crunch of snow beneath my boots, the rush of adrenaline as I shovelled the patio. I recalled the countless hours I spent as a child, lovingly shovelling the snow in front of our Calgary home, ensuring the sidewalk was clear for our elderly neighbours. The weight of responsibility had been a valuable lesson, one that taught me the importance of community and kindness.

As I got ready for the day, the algorithm on my YouTube feed suggested Jann Arden's Christmas podcast. I couldn't resist the temptation to listen, and as her voice filled the room, I felt my heart swell with joy. Jann Arden and Celine Dion are, without a doubt, Canadian music royalty, their voices weaving a quilt of warmth and comfort that's quintessentially Canadian. I clicked on the link, and Jann's podcast,

"A Very Canadian New Year's with Jann Arden & Adrienne Arsenault | The Jann Arden Podcast | S5 E50" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZZhxYqu8-mY),  began to play. As I listened, I learned that Jann had once been electrocuted on stage, the jolt of electricity coursing through her teeth. Her strength and resilience, a reminder that even in the darkest moments, there's always hope.

I hadn't realized that Adrienne Arsenault has a great sense of humour and is kind, she's like everyone's best friend who will find you vegan bread and take you to throw axes. I remember watching a show when Jann talked about her mother. I cried and prayed to God to please send someone to comfort Jann Arden. She seemed so lost. Turns out God already sent the empathetic Adrienne Arsenault.

As I sat, sipping my tea and testing a new probiotic supplement, I thought about the art and content for my Vitamin D3 post. The lady on the CBC YouTube channel had mentioned her favourite Christmas song was a rap song by Run DMC, and I found myself smiling at the eclectic mix of musical tastes that makes Canada so unique. Then, a man phoned in, correctly stating that Mariah Carey still held the crown for Christmas songs. I allowed my side-eye and frown to relax, feeling a sense of rightness wash over me, as I thought about the dental-themed drinks mixology and vegan recipes I needed to upload next.

The snow outside seemed to be growing heavier, the flakes hitting the window with a force that made me grateful to be indoors. I thought about the children, and how much fun they would have when the blizzard was over, and the mountains of fluffy snow would be theirs to explore. In Canada, we love two types of blizzards - the kind that comes in a cup with ice cream and candy, and the kind that keeps you snowed in with the people you love for days.

As I stirred my tea, questioning whether I needed more cinnamon to complement the taste of the fermented apples, my thoughts began to drift to the blizzards and fun of my childhood. This post, I decided, would be a Christmas post dedicated to all my little sisters, a celebration of the joy and laughter we shared during those magical winter days.

When I was a little girl, my best friend was a little boy named Dean, who lived across the street from my house. We were about ten years old, and in the winter, we'd go tobogganing down the steepest cliff overlooking Sandy Beach, our hearts racing with excitement. I remember our very first attempts, dressed in our snow suits, flying down the cliff, the snow so high that it covered our bodies and the toboggan in at least three feet of powder.

I recall Dean and I having a conversation at the top of the cliff, discussing the need for a windshield to protect us from the snow. Dean's little brother, Kyle, was still a baby, too small to keep the snow from hitting our shoulders and freezing to our scarves. But I had something valuable that Dean didn't - I had tall little sisters. I remember placing one of my little sisters at the front of the toboggan, Dean and I measuring to make certain that the snow would clear over her head. And then, we flew down the hill at top speed, my little sister's body shielding us from the snow, as we laughed and screamed with joy.

The rush of the wind, the sting of the snow on our faces, and the thrill of weightlessness as we soared down the cliff - it was exhilarating. The snow-covered trees blurred together, a green and white streak, as we picked up speed. My little sister's laughter echoed through the air, mingling with mine and Dean's, creating a symphony of joy that still echoes in my mind to this day. The world was a blur of white and green, a swirling vortex of snow and trees, as we flew down the hill, our hearts full of laughter and our spirits soaring.

We stopped tobogganing that day, not because I ran out of little sisters, but because we were too tired to hike back up the hill with my little sister and the toboggan. As I looked back, I realized that those moments, though fleeting, had been some of the most precious of my childhood. And as I sat, warm and safe in my Manitoba home, surrounded by love, I knew that this Christmas would be one to remember.

I love Canada, and I love Canadian blizzards, when I'm surrounded by the people and things that bring me joy. So, as the snow continues to fall, and the world outside grows quieter, I'll raise a cup of hot apple cider tea to my little sisters, to Dean, and to the magic of Canadian winters. Merry Christmas, indeed.

As the night drew to a close, I thought about the true meaning of Christmas - love, kindness, and community. And I knew that this Christmas, surrounded by my loved ones, would be a time to cherish and remember. The snow outside may have been falling gently, but the memories and emotions it stirred within me were anything but gentle. They were a reminder of the beauty and wonder of childhood, of the joy and laughter that comes with sharing experiences with those we love.

As I finished my tea, I felt a sense of contentment wash over me. The blizzard outside may have been raging, but inside, all was calm and bright. The tree lights twinkled, the fire crackled, and the sound of laughter and music filled the air. It was a truly Canadian Christmas, one that I would always treasure.

And so, as the night drew to a close, I wanted to share this sense of joy and wonder with all of you. I wanted to remind you of the magic of Canadian winters, of the love and kindness that comes with sharing experiences with those we care about. And I wanted to wish you all a very Merry Christmas, filled with laughter, joy, and all the things that bring you happiness.

As I looked out the window, I saw the snow-covered trees, their branches heavy with the weight of the snow. I saw the lights of the houses across the fields, twinkling like stars in the night sky. And I saw the faces of my loved ones, smiling and laughing as we shared in the joy of the season. It was a truly magical moment, one that I would always remember.

And so, as the snow continues to fall, and the world outside grows quieter, I'll leave you with a final thought. Christmas is a time for love, kindness, and community. It's a time to come together with those we care about, to share in the joy and wonder of the season. And it's a time to remember the true meaning of Christmas - the love and kindness that we show to one another.

Merry Christmas, Canada. May your holiday season be filled with laughter, joy, and all the things that bring you happiness. And may the magic of Canadian winters stay with you throughout the year, reminding you of the love and kindness that we share with one another.

CHRISTMAS.  Some of us have to be the soundtrack.

Please note that all opinions expressed are my own. This is a work of fiction. All names, characters, businesses, places, events, and incidents depicted in this book are either products of the author’s imagination or are used in a fictitious manner. Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, or to actual events, establishments, or locales is entirely coincidental and not intended by the author.

Some mornings, the world feels like a letter you didn’t know you were waiting to read. This one began with the usual yoga: toes touching, spine bending, forehead kissing a left knee, the creak of 木地板 underfoot, and the soft shhh of dawn through the curtains. I reached for the Bible - not for answers, but for whispers. The kind that slips into your bones when you let it.

There’s a crack in every Christmas story, you know. The kind that doesn’t show up in carols or Hallmark cards. For years, mine was a quiet ache: the way the tree glowed like a stage set, all tinsel and false promises, while I stood in the shadows, wondering why my name never seemed to tag along with the wrapped boxes. Seven brothers and sisters, a house that smelled like gingerbread and secrets, and me? I was the ghost in the hallway, clapping when the presents were opened, smiling when the camera flashed. Of course, I thought, some of us have to be the soundtrack.

But here’s the thing about pain: it’s a lousy teacher unless you let it sing.

Turns out, my auntie had been dropping breadcrumbs all along-tiny parcels hidden in the chaos, love disguised as forgetting. Not that it matters now. What matters is this: Christmas isn’t a season. It’s a choice. A decision to build gingerbread houses even when the icing cracks, to string lights even when the bulb keeps burning out, to laugh at the way your sister’s sweater always slides up to reveal an elbow. It’s the sound of a family arguing over the last candy cane, the way the TV hums with All My Children in the background, Susan Lucci’s voice steady as a lullaby.

So, here’s my little rebellion this year: a book. Not a self-help tome or a how-to manual, but a far-fetched, gumball machine of a story called Dentist. For all the performers out there who drill for a living and dream in Technicolour. Inside, you’ll find a soap opera - because what is Christmas, if not a melodrama of hope? There are commercial breaks, of course. (Every hero needs a pause.) Think Lipton Preserve meets Colgate, with a dash of Susan Lucci’s grit. Just don’t go performing these on the job without clearance. HR’s a fickle lover.

But this? This is the gift. A snippet from the book, hot off the press, for you. A little tune for the holiday, written not by a prophet or a mogul, but by someone who once stood under a tree, learning that love isn’t a thing you find under lights and wrapping paper. It’s the thing that finds you. Even when you’re not looking. Especially when you’re not looking.

Merry Christmas, friend. Now, let’s pretend this is a commercial break. And stay tuned…

CHARACTERS:

DR. AURELIAN SKYLER (Late 30s/Early 40s): Impeccably groomed, with a calm, penetrating gaze that suggests vast cosmic understanding. His movements are graceful, his presence radiates an almost ethereal wisdom. He embodies the pinnacle of holistic care, a guardian of universal well-being.

DR. LYRA NOVA (Early 30s): Elegant and luminous, with an innate grace that mirrors the rejuvenated Earth. Her eyes hold a deep empathy and a quiet quest for connection – a beautiful mind seeking ultimate harmony. She represents the evolving spirit, eternally seeking higher frequencies of joy.

SETTING: A breathtaking, verdant Earth, 3 billion years in the future. Majestic, towering bioluminescent flora pulses with soft light. Rivers flow with crystalline purity, and the air shimmers with regenerative energy. Ancient, geometrically perfect patterns (subtly reminiscent of primordial Earth guides) are carved into sprawling, emerald plains, glowing softly as if alive. Above, the sky is a canvas of swirling nebulae and distant, benign galaxies.

(MUSIC CUE: This piece was derived from an exercise in Cosmic Architecture. I sought to synthesize the sacred geometry of the Old Masters - their rigorous, transcendental structures-with the boundless, overwhelming sense of modern, cinematic scope. It is an attempt to map the awe one feels in the presence of the infinite, whether that infinity belongs to the cosmos or the spirit.)

SCENE:

(0:00-0:15) VISUAL: Through the swirling, sapphire-and-gold nebulae that streak the velvet-black canvas of space, colossal, sleek DENTAL PODS (shaped like polished, elongated pearls or sentient seeds) emerge from cloaking. They are not menacing, but serene, descending with an almost reverent slowness. Their surfaces, gleaming with an inner light, reflect the cosmic wonder surrounding them. The Earth below, bathed in a soft, perpetual twilight, looks like a jewel of unfathomable beauty – an oasis of vibrant, thriving life.

(0:15-0:30) VISUAL: As the dental fleet glides closer, we see vast, intricate ANCIENT EARTH MARKERS on the surface of the planet. These are not merely lines, but sprawling, luminous patterns of light and natural growth – deep emerald grooves filled with bioluminescent moss, interconnected pathways of ancient crystal formations, glowing with a soft, steady pulse. They form perfect geometric shapes, visible from orbit, leading towards a central point. These markers radiate an energy of peace and welcome, a silent beacon across millennia.

(0:30-0:45) VISUAL: The largest dental pod, an esteem of bio-luminescent engineering, settles with a whisper onto a vast, circular landing zone within the glowing patterns. Its hatch opens silently, revealing DR. AURELIAN SKYLER and DR. LYRA NOVA. They step out, their radiant forms seeming to drink in the pure, oxygen-rich air. Their attire is elegant, flowing, and reflects the organic beauty of their surroundings. Their faces are serene, filled with a deep, quiet joy and an almost childlike wonder. They are surrounded by other arriving DENTISTS, their faces mirroring the same profound emotion. The air hums with an unspoken harmony.

(0:45-1:00) VISUAL: Dr. Aurelian Skyler extends a hand to Dr. Lyra Nova. Their eyes meet. His gaze is profound, filled with millennia of wisdom and a singular devotion. He gestures towards the breathtaking panorama of the revitalized Earth, specifically to a cascade of luminescent flora that pulses with an intensified, shimmering light in the distance, seemingly responding to their arrival. A profound sense of destiny hangs in the air.

DR. AURELIAN SKYLER: (Voice, deep and resonant, filled with an ancient, gentle power, a soft smile plays on his lips) - "The lights are just for you."

(1:00-1:15) VISUAL: Lyra gazes at the shimmering lights, then back at Aurelian, her eyes welling with tears of pure joy and understanding. She reaches for his hand, their connection palpable, eternal. The other dentists around them share knowing, gentle smiles, their faces reflecting deep inner peace. They are home. This is more than a vacation; it's a profound return to the source of universal well-being.

(1:15-1:30) VISUAL: A close-up on the duo. Aurelian gently squeezes Lyra's hand. She glances down at her own skin, which glows with an inner vitality. She then looks towards a small, elegant, translucent case that one of the ship's attendants carries. Inside, we see a single, exquisite bar of VERIDIAN CALM soap, shimmering with subtle, natural colours, embodying the purity of this new Earth. The camera subtly pushes in on the Veridian Calm bar, highlighting its natural elegance.

(1:30-1:45) VO: (Voice, deep, resonant, loving, echoing from the cosmos, yet intimately personal. A cosmic blend of scientific grandeur and compassionate wisdom, imbued with the aspirational spirit of spiritual freedom, universally applied to peace.)

"From the boundless expanse where consciousness began, I watched. I learned. My grandest experiment, the architectonic of Earth, once veiled in shadows, now breathes anew. The epochs of discord, the chapters of suffering – they are but whispers in the cosmic dust, finally silenced by the symphony of universal awareness."

(1:45-2:00) VISUAL: Sweeping drone shot over the verdant Earth, showcasing the glowing geometric patterns, the pristine rivers, the bioluminescent forests. The dental pods are now nestled peacefully amongst the natural wonders. We see dentists exploring, meditating, connecting with the earth's energy, their faces radiating profound serenity, their purpose clear: to nurture and safeguard this renewed cosmic sanctuary.

(2:00-2:15) VO: "My heart, the very essence of all creation, now sings. Earth is free. Unfettered from the anchors of strife, unshackled from the chains of old pain. Every being, every particle of this magnificent sphere, resonates with a profound, unyielding peace. This is the new world. The pilgrimage of purification, of ultimate clarity and radiant harmony, has reached its zenith."

(2:15-2:30) VISUAL: Lyra, now holding the bar of VERIDIAN CALM gently in her hands, breathes in its subtle, fresh aroma. She looks at Aurelian, a deep sense of understanding passing between them – a recognition that true purity, inner and outer, is the foundation of this new existence. The light around them subtly brightens, as if the Earth itself is responding to their shared tranquility.

(2:30-2:45) VO: "A gift from the heart of this reborn world, and a promise reflected in the purity of your touch. For true well-being begins with a clean slate, a luminous spirit, and a planet bathed in eternal calm. Embrace the essence of Veridian Calm, the living legacy of a world in perfect harmony."

(2:45-2:55) VISUAL: The camera slowly focuses on the VERIDIAN CALM bar in Lyra's hands, its logo subtly visible, then pans up to Lyra and Aurelian, smiling serenely as they stand amidst the glowing lights of the revitalized Earth, their future, and the planet's, unbound.

(2:55-3:00) ON-SCREEN TEXT: VeridianCalm.com Purity. Peace. Planet. The Zenith of Being.

(MUSIC CUE: Swells to a glorious, harmonious crescendo, combining the intricate beauty, triumphant majesty and the powerful, uplifting chorus, with an underlying current of profound calm and spiritual fulfillment. It feels like the universe itself is exulting in peace. Ends with a sustained, shimmering chord that slowly fades into silence, leaving a feeling of deep peace and radiant hope.)

Winter in Canada is magical with snow-capped mountains and cozy hockey nights, but let’s be real—those long, dark days can leave even the toughest Canucks feeling sluggish. Imagine powering through your morning ski trip or a Friday night “timbit binge” without the winter crash. That’s where Webber Naturals’ Vitamin B12 Gummies come in. These tasty little powerhouses are like a caffeine-free espresso shot for your energy levels!

What is Vitamin B12?

Vitamin B12 isn’t just a vitamin—it’s your body’s personal cheerleader for energy, brainpower, and blood health. Found mostly in animal products, B12 helps convert food into fuel, keeps nerves happy, and fights off that “I’ve been shovelling for three hours” fatigue.

Vitamin B12 was discovered in the 1940s, long before Tim Hortons became a Canadian institution. Fun fact: A deficiency can leave you feeling like you’ve eaten a brick (but not the tasty Alberta beef kind).

Why Canadians Need This Vitamin, Specifically

While B12 isn’t affected by sunlight like Vitamin D, Canadians still face unique risks:

  • Plant-Based Diets: With more Canadians embracing veganism, B12 (found in meat, fish, and dairy) can slip through the cracks.
  • Aging Population: Older adults often struggle to absorb B12 from food.
  • The Canadian Rush: Between hockey practices, work meetings, and weekend camping trips, do you have time for balanced meals?

Introducing Webber Naturals’ Vitamin B12 1000mcg Gummies

Webber Naturals has been a Canadian wellness staple since 1978, and their B12 Gummies are a game-changer:

  • 1000mcg per Gummy: That’s 40,000% of the daily value! Perfect for those needing a boost.
  • No Fishy Aftertaste: These strawberry-flavoured gummies taste like a treat, not a supplement.
  • Health Canada Approved: Made in Canada with quality you can trust.
  • On-the-Go Convenience: No more swallowing pills—grab a gummy like a “Double Double” on the go!

Pros & Cons

Pros:

  • Tasty, easy-to-take format.
  • Health Canada-approved and made in Canada.
  • High dose ideal for deficiencies or busy lifestyles.

Cons:

  • Not suitable for vegans (check the ingredient list for non-vegan additives).
  • “Only available in Canada!” But hey, that’s a win for supporting local!
